Great set of interviews and good questions. I look forward to more. I will say that as someone who likely will never fill the role of senior pastor in a church and who sees no dichotomy between the lay person and the pastor, I was a bit disturbed to hear the one man say that the convention was a place for "pastors" to gather. The convention shouldn't be looked at as a place for only pastors or only even staff, it is a gathering of Southern Baptists and really there should be more lay people there than pastors, as the convention consists of more of these than it does those in paid leadership positions.
I hope that in the future we see much more participation from lay people in convention life. After all, that is who the convention serves and how the convention is able to function.
